Cox & Kings introduces Trek to Everest Base Camp at just Rs. 66,000

September 19th 2016, Mumbai: Cox & Kings, the leading holidays and education travel group with operations in 22 countries, is introducing trekking to Everest Base Camp, a 15-day Himalayan trek. At 17,590 feet, it is one of the most exhilarating adventures of its kind where you trek across lush forests and an ethereal moonscape, to the foot of the highest mountain on the planet. The tour package starts from Rs. 66,000 which includes Kathmandu- Lukla return flights, all meals, water and beverages, travel insurance and tea-house stay during the trek.

The trek is graded as strenuous and demands good health and fitness. Though you don't need to be an athlete to do the trek, previous hiking experience is highly desirable as on average 6 to 7 hours of walk is involved. Maximum group size for this trek is 16 people and the group will be accompanied by a team of local crew (sherpas) along with a Cox and Kings guide to make the trek comfortable and enjoyable. The two departures scheduled for this trek are on 8th Oct, 2016 & 16th Dec, 2016 respectively.

The tour starts from Kathmandu, the Ancient Mountain Kingdom of Nepal's most vibrant of cities. Upon arrival, arrangements will be made for those who need to purchase or rent clothing/equipment. In the evening the whole group will come together along with the Tour Leader, going through our program for the next couple of weeks along with checking out your equipment to make sure you are properly prepared for the climatic changes ahead of you.

On day two, the group will take a domestic flight to Lukla, the starting point for the trek. From there, the trek begins along with our Sherpa crew of guides. The rest of schedule is as given below-
Day 2- Hike from Lukla to Phakding (2652)- approx. 3 hrs walking
Day 3 - Trek from Phakding (2652m) to Namche Bazaar (3440m), approx. 6 hours walking
Day 4 - Acclimatization Day at Namche Bazaar (3440m)
Day 5 - Namche Bazaar (3440m) to Tengboche (3440m) - approx. 6 hours walking
Day 6 - Tengboche (3870m) to Dingboche(4410m)
Day 7 - Acclimatization day in Dingboche (4410m) - approx. 5 hours walking up to 4730m and back
Day 8 - Dingboche (4410m) to Lobuche(4930m) - approx. 6 hours walking
Day 9 - Lobuche (4930m) to Gorakshep (5180m) & EVEREST BASE CAMP (5364m) - approx. 8 hours of walking
Day 10 - Gorakshep (5180m) to Kala Pattar (5545m) and descent to Pheriche (4280m) from Gorak-shep after breakfast. Approx walking 8/9 hours
Day 11 - Pheriche (4280m) to Namche Bazaar (3440m) - approx. 9 hours walking
Day 12 - Namche Bazaar (3440m) to Lukla (2840m)- approx. 9 hours walking
Day 13 - Fly back from Lukla to Kathmandu
Day 14 - Free day in Kathmandu
Day 15 - Depart Kathmandu
