Cox & Kings promotes Maha Kumbh 2013

New Delhi, 04th January 2013: Cox & Kings Ltd, the longest established travel company in the world since 1758, has launched a campaign to promote Maha Kumbh 2013.

The Maha Kumbh Mela, scheduled to take place in Allahabad from January to March 2013 will be the largest ever gathering of humanity in a single place in all of history. Over 70 million people are expected to reach the holy city of Allahabad during the 56 days of the Maha Kumbh, an event that occurs every 12 years. It is a pilgrimage of faith, salvation and hope for millions of Indians. Allahabad, the ancient holy city of Prayag, (holiest of holy), is located at the confluence of the rivers Ganga and Yamuna and is considered the most sacred and location for the mela.

According to Mr Arup Sen, Director, Special Projects, Cox & Kings Ltd, “We believe that there is a huge demand from both foreign and Indian guests to witness this spectacle that happens every 12 years. Many also believe that a holy dip during the important days is the route to salvation or Moksha.”

The package encompasses tented accommodation in Lakshmi Kutir, a camp set up at the highest point of the Maha Kumbh, directly in line with the Sangam, the main bathing area and will have Super Luxury, Luxury and Deluxe tents. The camp is based on the premise of getting the pilgrim to connect with the real spiritual and holistic aspects of the Maha Kumbh and those related to Indian philosophy, mythology and wellness.

Accommodation comprises of three categories of tents. There will be 10 Super Luxury Tents and each will have bedrooms of 12x26 feet with an additional sitting area and a private verandah. The Luxury Tents are twin bedded rooms of 12x18 feet while the Deluxe Tents are twin bedded rooms of 14x14 feet. All categories of tents feature luxury amenities and all modern conveniences like heating, running hot and cold water and western toilets.

Dining at the camp will be an experience in itself. As it is part of a spiritual event the camp is vegetarian and alcohol will not be served. A separate dining tent which features a live kitchen serving exquisite meals will be set up. The menus are carefully prepared keeping in mind the ancient Indian philosophy of Satvik food and meals are prepared with fresh organic produce, salads and herbs. For those who desire a change, a tasteful selection of pastas, salads and soups will also be on offer. An all-day tea lounge and live counters in the dining area will also be part of the experience at the camp.

In keeping with the significance of the Kumbh, the camp host, a spiritual Sadhak, is a Kumbh specialist and has over the last 22 years devoted herself to her guru and she will share her deep understanding of the spiritual and religious communities in India and take the guests through what is a very personal journey.

In addition, the camp has a special Ayurveda Acharya, who is also a yoga specialist. She will take care of the Ayurveda Spa, created especially for the guests at the camp.

The camp will also provide exclusive excursions into the soul of the Kumbh Mela creating unique and experiential opportunities for photography, one to one interaction with the sadhus and soaking in the mystical energy of the Kumbh.
