Spend full day at Maesa Elephant camp and enjoy a ZIP line tour.
This area of the Mae Sa Valley is home to the largest assembly of domesticated elephants in northern Thailand. Historically, these animals were used as workers in the transportation and logging industries, but the Maesa Elephant Camp works to train, breed and conserve the Thai elephant population. The camp houses nearly 80 Asian elephants, characterized by their spotted ears.
Visitors can see the elephants working with their mahouts (trainers), bathing in the river and performing various tricks, sometimes including playing soccer, moving heavy objects and even painting landscapes!
There are also opportunities to interact with the elephants, from visiting the baby nursery and feeding them bananas and sugar cane to riding an elephant up the hillside. Getting acquainted with these intelligent creatures is an unforgettable experience.
In the evening, visit Chiang Mai Night Market and enjoy shopping to your heart's content. Dozens of shops sell handicraft souvenirs, antiques, feel the smoothness of the colourful silk at the shops, and you may want to buy silk garments, or souvenirs.
