Arrive Beijing

Welcome to your 'Glimpses of China' tour!

On arrival in Beijing, your Cox & Kings representative will greet you at the 'meeting point' at the exit. After immigration and customs, and transfer comfortably to the hotel. En route, see the renowned Kung Fu show. The show is a unique theatrical production which celebrates the philosophy and skill of this martial art through a compelling storyline, dramatic design, spectacular choreography and breath-taking music. A poignant and touching piece, the show blends the best of Kung Fu with exquisite ballet, music and wonderful theatre.

DAY 02    |    

Beijing

This morning, visit the only man-made structure visible from the moon, the Great Wall of China - the Badaling section with Cable Car. It is one of the oldest historical monuments in the world and a symbol of China's ancient civilisation. Just like a gigantic dragon, it winds up and down across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus from east to west.

Continue on an interesting drive along the Spirit Way guarded by stone animals and human figures and arrive at the Imperial Tombs, the only existing burial chambers of the Ming Emperors. Make a brief photo-stop at the Beijing Olympic Park for an outside view of the Bird's Nest Stadium and National Aquatic Centre.

Then, proceed to visit the Temple of Heaven, a complex of religious buildings visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to heaven for a good harvest. Later, visit the Jade Factory to see how jade is carved into beautiful art.

DAY 03    |    

Beijing

Today, the day unfolds with a guided orientation tour of Beijing, viewing historic landmarks like Tian'anmen Square, the largest open public square in the world, flanked by the imposing Tian'anmen Gate (Gate of Heavenly Peace), the original gate of the Imperial Palace.

Continue to the Forbidden City. Admire this architectural masterpiece with exotic pavilions, serene courtyards, rich halls and flourishing gardens. Next, visit the Summer Palace, a magnificent imperial garden located 12 kms west of Beijing City. A summer retreat for emperors and a chosen few in the past, it is now the largest and most ancient preserved garden in China and includes over 100 ancient pavilions, mansions, towers, halls, temples, bridges and an enormous clear water lake.

Later, enjoy some time for shopping at the Silk Alley markets boasting of more than 1000 stores and the Pearl Factory.

Note: Today, passengers will need to pack an overnight bag as your main luggage will be transferred directly to the hotel in Shanghai.

The rest of the evening is at leisure to explore the city. You have the option of enjoying the Acrobatic Show. It incorporates elements from the opera, dance and martial arts merging into a wholly distinctive style.

Today, transfer to the train station to board a high-speed train to Xi'an, one of the ancient capitals of China and the start of the Silk Route.

On arrival in Xi'an, proceed on a panoramic tour of the city driving past the ancient city wall; see the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Musical Fountain show.

Xi'an - Shanghai

This morning, visit the archaeological site of the amazing Terracotta Warriors. Take the battery operated car (one way) to visit the Museum to view the collection of life-sized figures of warriors, horses, chariots celebrating Chinese unification. The figures vary in height according to their role, the tallest being the General. Also see the 360 degree documentary about the history and formation of the army.

Visit a special Art and Lacquer workshop where you can see the figures being carved and also buy a souvenir.

In the evening, board a flight to Shanghai - the most cosmopolitan city in China.

On arrival in Shanghai, transfer to your hotel and check-in.

Shanghai

Today, embark on a guided orientation tour with a visit to a Buddhist shrine - Jade Buddha Temple. It is named for its two bejewelled white jade Buddha statues carved from a whole piece of white jade, displaying the skill and extraordinary art of Chinese people. Next, visit the alluring centuries-old Yu Yuan Garden located in the Old Town of Shanghai which recreates a beautiful landscape of pagodas, pavilions, rockeries, fountains, ancient trees and precious flowers.

Proceed to visit the Silk Factory. Thereafter, head to Nanjing Road for some great value-for-money shopping. Nanjing Road starts at the Bund and runs westward with People's Square in the middle. It earned its reputation as the "First Commercial Road in China". Some of the traditional food and handicrafts of Shanghai can be found here.

Next, it's the Bund. The renowned waterfront district is the city's most famous landmark. Finally, embark on a Huang Pu River cruise, gazing at the mighty skyscrapers, the Monument Tower to the People's Heroes, the famous Waibaidu Bridge and Huang Pu Park on one bank, and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, International Convention Centre, Jin Mao Building in the Pudong Area.

Important Note
    • A part of your tour price will be taken in USD from your BTQ (Basic Travel Quota) as per the RBI / GOI regulations.
    • Subject to availability of flights and connections, passengers from other cities can take this tour directly from their city by paying an additional amount as applicable per person plus Airport and Government taxes. Please check with our Sales Officer for details.
    • Child without bed is an individual under 12 years of age sharing the room with 2 full paying adults and without a bed / cot.
    • For Two Adults & Two Children (both under 12 years) rooming together, the 1st child will have to pay "Child With Bed" price and the 2nd Child will pay "Child Without Bed" price.
    • In case of 3 Adults or 2 Adults + 2 children or 2 Adults + 1 Child With Bed in a room, 2 Queen-sized beds will be provided.
    • Maximum 3 Adults are allowed per room.
    • Additional supplements on account of fuel hikes as and when received would be applicable with immediate effect.
    • Once an air ticket is issued, date change penalty and rerouting charges (as applicable) will be charged. Check with our Sales Officer for the applicable charges.
    • Glimpses of China tour operates more than one coach per departure and on certain departures will operate in reverse direction.
    • The right to vary, amend, alter or withdraw any particular itinerary, departure or excursion rests entirely with the company. Due to demand of a particular airline, the in/out points may change. Services however, will remain unchanged.
    • All meals mentioned in the itinerary are preset & a-la carte is not possible.
    • Any damages caused to the hotel rooms / coach during your stay shall be borne by the concerned passengers.
    • The company shall not accept any liability or responsibility for any damages, loss of baggage, loss, injury, accident, death, breakdown or irregularity which may occur in carrying out tour arrangements due to weather conditions, strikes, war, quarantine or any other cause whatsoever and all such loss or expenses must be borne by the passengers.
    • The Management reserves the right to claim any additional expenses incurred due to delay or changes in schedules of train, airplane, bus, ship or any other services.
    • The Tour Manager and driver will do their best to get you as close to the monuments as possible because in some cities coaches are restricted.
    • There are no refunds for any services i.e. meals, sightseeing etc. not utilized on your tour.
    • On days when certain attractions, sights, monuments, museums etc. are closed, the Tour Manager reserves the right to amend the Itinerary / cancel the visit.
    • For convenience of our passengers / feasibility of operation, we will sometimes amend the itinerary. However, the services remain unchanged.
    • On certain days, local or packed lunch will be provided.
    • For passengers from other cities joining this tour in Mumbai/Delhi/Ahmedabad/Bangalore/Chennai/Hyderabad/Kolkata, the cost of to & from domestic travel is not included in the Tour Price.
    • The tour will be operated, subject to a minimum of 20 full paying adult passengers travelling together.
    • Important: Travel as light as possible and carry bags with wheels as heavy luggage may cause inconvenience especially at train stations since porters, trolleys, elevators are not available.

You must be in possession of a Single Entry China Visa. The cost of this visa is included in your Main Tour Price. It is mandatory to process your visa through Cox & Kings only.

  • Passport valid at least 6 months from the date of return.
  • 1 Visa Form.
  • 1 Photo with white background 35 x 45 mm.
  • Covering letter stating purpose of visit addressed to Chinese Embassy on their letter head with round stamp, if self employed or covering letter on plain paper, if employed.
  • All travellers to China, for tourist visa, are required to submit original bank certificate with minimum balance of Rs. 1.5 Lakh for each person.
  • If person is employed, then letter from employer stating No Objection with company round stamp.
  • Exchange or international credit card copy.
  • Confirmed Return Ticket.
  • Hotel confirmation.
  • For group tour, then confirmed hotel booking and travel itinerary.
