DAY 01    |    

Arrive in Johannesburg

Welcome to your 'Cox & Kings - African Sojourn' tour!

On arrival in Johannesburg, your Cox & Kings representative will greet you at the "meeting point" at the exit. After immigration and customs, transfer comfortably to the hotel (check-in after 1500 hours).

In the evening, proceed for a guided orientation tour of Johannesburg. Visit Gandhi Square where Gandhiji had his office, Elise Park Stadium, Nelson Mandela Square and Hillbrow Tower.

Today, post breakfast proceed to Sun City.

The rest of the day is at leisure. Sun City offers a myriad of different entertainment and relaxation opportunities as well as enough attractions and activities to keep everyone busy. While at Sun City, you have a chance to enjoy the various activities on offer (at your expense) such as visit to the Casino, bird aviary, archery, jet ski, parasailing, motor boats etc. You can also visit Valley of Waves. (on own) (time permitting).

Sun City - Knysna

Early morning, proceed for a game drive at Pilanesberg to view animals up close in their wild surroundings.

After breakfast, check-out and depart to the airport in Johannesburg for your flight to George.

On arrival in George, proceed to your conveniently located hotel in Knysna and check-in.

In the evening, embark on a scenic sunset cruise.

Knysna

After breakfast at the hotel, head to Oudtshoorn, which is set in a semi-arid valley. Drive through the Wine lands along the Breede River to Oudtshoorn - 'the Feather Capital of the World'. Visit the famous Cango Caves, where the stalactite and stalagmite formations are an incredible sight.

Later, proceed to the Ostrich Farm where you can enjoy shows performed by well-trained birds. You also have a chance to ride this magnificent bird and try your luck at breaking an ostrich egg, which is an impossible task. Thereafter, drive to 'Cheetah Ranch', where you can marvel at the grace and beauty of the world's fastest animal. Lastly, experience Crocodile Enclosure.

DAY 05    |    

Knysna - Cape Town

Today, depart to Cape Town. En route, stop at Mossel Bay, a harbour town where you visit the Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex which is the largest of the museums in Mossel Bay.

Later, visit Post Office Tree - A post box in the shape of an old boot has now been erected under the tree which was declared a national heritage site.

Continue your scenic journey to Cape Town. On arrival, transfer to the hotel (check-in time is 1400 hours).

Cape Town

Today, proceed on an exciting sightseeing tour of this beautiful city with its majestic Table Mountain backdrop. Enjoy a scenic view at the top of Table Mountain Cable Car 3600 (weather permitting) for a panoramic view of the city and coastline. Then, visit the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

Later, see the famous Victoria and the Alfred Waterfront, one of Cape Town's biggest tourist attractions where you will also explore the Two Oceans Aquarium. Then, drive past Green Market Square, District Six and company gardens, Houses of the Parliament, the City Hall, the Castle and Slave Lodge.

The rest of the day is at leisure for independent activities.

Cape Town

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed on an exciting full-day tour to the Cape of Good Hope. Drive via the Ou Kaapse Weg and the Atlantic Coast to Cape Point. Here, the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean are said to meet. Marvel at the view from the southernmost tip of South Africa.

Then, enjoy a cruise to Hout Bay to the Seal Colony (weather permitting). Return along the False Bay Coast visiting the Jackass penguins at Boulders Beach. Afterwards, enjoy a short stop at the Simon's Town. This scenic town is also an important naval base.

Today, depart to the airport in Cape Town for your flight to Nairobi via Johannesburg.

Nairobi - Aberdare National Park

Today after breakfast, depart for Aberdare.

You will be then driven through the highlands and arrive at the most beautiful Aberdare Country Club located at around 6000 ft. above sea level on a hill facing the majestic snowcapped Mt. Kenya (check-in after 1400 hrs).

Enjoy a lovely lunch as you immerse yourself into the beauty that surrounds you.

In the afternoon, depart for the Ark Forest Lodge nestled deep in the forests of the Aberdare National Park. This world-renowned rustic tree-house is dedicated to game viewing.

Tonight, enjoy a game viewing experience from the lodge as herds of buffalos, elephants and other mountain game come to drink at the resident flood-lit waterhole.

Aberdare National Park - Lake Elementaita

Today, drive to Lake Elementaita set in a picturesque landscape of surrounding woodland and grassland.

Arrive at the lodge and proceed for lunch.

Later, enjoy a scenic boat ride at Lake Naivasha, where you can view and photograph the hippos. In the evening, enjoy a delicious Indian dinner at the lodge.

Lake Elementaita

After breakfast, take a picnic lunch and embark on your visit to Lake Bogoria National Park.

Located in the spectacular rift valley, Lake Bogoria is home to a fascinating fauna. It is truly a bird watcher´s paradise with over 400 recorded bird species in the area and is home to one of the largest population of the lesser flamingoes. Apart from the flamingos, we have the chance to observe birds of prey, such as the fish eagle, the grey crowned crane, common ostrich, black-headed herons and sacred ibis. The shores are lined with gazelle, zebra, buffalo, impala, baboons and the park is one of the best places in Kenya to see Greater Kudu, a mighty animal with splendid, spiraling horns.

Enjoy your visit to this enchanting world of wildlife and bird-watching and return to your lodge for dinner.

This morning, depart for the rolling savannah plains of Masai Mara.

This world-renowned reserve which stretches over 1510 sq. km. of open rolling grasslands is watered by the Mara River and littered with an astonishing amount of wildlife. It is home to Africa's famous "big five" (lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo).

Later, in afternoon, enjoy an enthralling game-viewing drive. Spotting lions, cheetahs and other spectacular predators is the highlight of your day. This evening, enjoy a sumptuous dinner at your lodge.

Masai Mara

Early morning, enjoy a pre-breakfast game drive for an opportunity to see the animals awaken to another day of feeding or catch a lion attempting a kill or enjoying what he has killed during the night. This is the time when the animals go to the river to enjoy their first drink of water.

Then, return to your lodge.

In the afternoon, post lunch at the camp, enjoy an afternoon game drive.

Later, enjoy a sumptuous dinner at the lodge.

Arrive in Johannesburg

Welcome to your 'Cox & Kings - African Sojourn' tour!

On arrival in Johannesburg, your Cox & Kings representative will greet you at the "meeting point" at the exit. After immigration and customs, transfer comfortably to the hotel (check-in after 1500 hours).

In the evening, proceed for a guided orientation tour of Johannesburg. Visit Gandhi Square where Gandhiji had his office, Elise Park Stadium, Nelson Mandela Square and Hillbrow Tower.

Johannesburg - Sun City

Today, post breakfast proceed to Sun City.

The rest of the day is at leisure. Sun City offers a myriad of different entertainment and relaxation opportunities as well as enough attractions and activities to keep everyone busy. While at Sun City, you have a chance to enjoy the various activities on offer (at your expense) such as visit to the Casino, bird aviary, archery, jet ski, parasailing, motor boats etc. You can also visit Valley of Waves. (on own) (time permitting).

DAY 03    |    
Sun City - Knysna

Early morning, proceed for a game drive at Pilanesberg to view animals up close in their wild surroundings.

After breakfast, check-out and depart to the airport in Johannesburg for your flight to George.

On arrival in George, proceed to your conveniently located hotel in Knysna and check-in.

In the evening, embark on a scenic sunset cruise.

DAY 04    |    
Knysna

After breakfast at the hotel, head to Oudtshoorn, which is set in a semi-arid valley. Drive through the Wine lands along the Breede River to Oudtshoorn - 'the Feather Capital of the World'. Visit the famous Cango Caves, where the stalactite and stalagmite formations are an incredible sight.

Later, proceed to the Ostrich Farm where you can enjoy shows performed by well-trained birds. You also have a chance to ride this magnificent bird and try your luck at breaking an ostrich egg, which is an impossible task. Thereafter, drive to 'Cheetah Ranch', where you can marvel at the grace and beauty of the world's fastest animal. Lastly, experience Crocodile Enclosure.

DAY 05    |    
Knysna - Cape Town

Today, depart to Cape Town. En route, stop at Mossel Bay, a harbour town where you visit the Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex which is the largest of the museums in Mossel Bay.

Later, visit Post Office Tree - A post box in the shape of an old boot has now been erected under the tree which was declared a national heritage site.

Continue your scenic journey to Cape Town. On arrival, transfer to the hotel (check-in time is 1400 hours).

DAY 06    |    
Cape Town

Today, proceed on an exciting sightseeing tour of this beautiful city with its majestic Table Mountain backdrop. Enjoy a scenic view at the top of Table Mountain Cable Car 3600 (weather permitting) for a panoramic view of the city and coastline. Then, visit the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

Later, see the famous Victoria and the Alfred Waterfront, one of Cape Town's biggest tourist attractions where you will also explore the Two Oceans Aquarium. Then, drive past Green Market Square, District Six and company gardens, Houses of the Parliament, the City Hall, the Castle and Slave Lodge.

The rest of the day is at leisure for independent activities.

DAY 07    |    
Cape Town

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed on an exciting full-day tour to the Cape of Good Hope. Drive via the Ou Kaapse Weg and the Atlantic Coast to Cape Point. Here, the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean are said to meet. Marvel at the view from the southernmost tip of South Africa.

Then, enjoy a cruise to Hout Bay to the Seal Colony (weather permitting). Return along the False Bay Coast visiting the Jackass penguins at Boulders Beach. Afterwards, enjoy a short stop at the Simon's Town. This scenic town is also an important naval base.

Cape Town - Nairobi

Today, depart to the airport in Cape Town for your flight to Nairobi via Johannesburg.

Nairobi - Aberdare National Park

Today after breakfast, depart for Aberdare.

You will be then driven through the highlands and arrive at the most beautiful Aberdare Country Club located at around 6000 ft. above sea level on a hill facing the majestic snowcapped Mt. Kenya (check-in after 1400 hrs).

Enjoy a lovely lunch as you immerse yourself into the beauty that surrounds you.

In the afternoon, depart for the Ark Forest Lodge nestled deep in the forests of the Aberdare National Park. This world-renowned rustic tree-house is dedicated to game viewing.

Tonight, enjoy a game viewing experience from the lodge as herds of buffalos, elephants and other mountain game come to drink at the resident flood-lit waterhole.

Aberdare National Park - Lake Elementaita

Today, drive to Lake Elementaita set in a picturesque landscape of surrounding woodland and grassland.

Later, enjoy a scenic boat ride at Lake Naivasha, where you can view and photograph the hippos. In the evening, enjoy a delicious Indian dinner at the lodge.

Lake Elementaita

After breakfast, take a picnic lunch and embark on your visit to Lake Bogoria National Park.

Located in the spectacular rift valley, Lake Bogoria is home to a fascinating fauna. It is truly a bird watcher´s paradise with over 400 recorded bird species in the area and is home to one of the largest population of the lesser flamingoes. Apart from the flamingos, we have the chance to observe birds of prey, such as the fish eagle, the grey crowned crane, common ostrich, black-headed herons and sacred ibis. The shores are lined with gazelle, zebra, buffalo, impala, baboons and the park is one of the best places in Kenya to see Greater Kudu, a mighty animal with splendid, spiraling horns.

Enjoy your visit to this enchanting world of wildlife and bird-watching and return to your lodge for dinner.
