Although most visitors coming to Indonesia go straight to Bali and skip the other beautiful attractions in the other parts of the country, there is a lot to do and see in this country. The other places like Java and Komodo islands are also the places worth visiting other than Bali. There are the interesting and lively cities like Yogyakarta and small villages with a slower pace of life. Then again there are the pristine beaches and the waters of the Komodo islands and the volcanoes of the ring of fire, the thick jungles and the dry landscapes, traditional dances and delicious cuisine. Shopping in Indonesia: You can literally shop till you drop in the country of Indonesia as it is one of the largest shopping places in the world. In the larger cities like Jakarta there are the big shiny malls where you will find all the well-known international brands. Then again there are the affordable and cheap bargains in the markets and smaller malls of the cities. Indonesia is especially known for its handicrafts and Batik fabric which can be taken home as souvenirs. There are also many tailors who will immediately stich garments out of the Batik fabric and you can get any kind of dresses made for yourself as well as friends and family. The handicrafts make great gifts and also are good for decorating your home.
Immersing in History and Culture: Two of the loveliest ancient wonders of the world are located in Indonesia. These are the Borobudur temple and the revered padmanabhan temple. The two religions predominant in this country are Hinduism and Buddhism and you will find the well-preserved remains of the great kingdoms following these two religions. However, right now the majority of people in Indonesia follow Islam and there are many modern buildings dedicated to this religion as well. Hike up and Watch the Sunrise from Volcanoes: As mentioned above the land of Indonesia abounds in both active and dormant volcanoes. Trekking and hiking up these volcanic mountains is a popular activity among the tourists who visit this country. The most famous volcano is the Mount Bromo in Java and another one is the Mount Rinjani in Lombok. You can hike up to view the sunrise over Mount Bromo which is famous for many reasons and the main reason is the fabulous view of the sunrise from the tip of the volcano across the crater. You can also enjoy similar pleasure while trekking up the different volcanoes of the country and even enjoy the spurting of lava and steam rising from some of them.
