The Land of Gods – Himachal Pradesh
Himachal Pradesh is a state in the north of India in the Himalayan mountain range. It is known for its scenic mountain towns and resorts like Dalhousie, Manali, Shimla and others. This state is also playing host to the Dalai Lama and due to this has a strong Tibetan presence. You can see this in the Buddhist temples and monasteries along with its vibrant Tibetan new year celebrations. This state is also well known for its outdoor activities like skiing, climbing and trekking.
Rightly known as Dev Bhumi or the land of Gods Himachal Pradesh is completely mountainous with altitudes from 460 to 6600 meters. Here you can witness a picture of lush green meadows, excitable rocky ravines, rich flora and attractive fauna like ibex, musk deer, Himalayan brown bear, thar, mow leopard, wild cocks and monal tragopan. The most majestic sight in this region is that of the breathtaking snow clad mountain peaks. This state is enjoyable in every weather, where the summers are refreshing and cool, the rains enjoyable and the winters are full of fun with ice skating and skiing in snow. At the same time, there is something for all ages and both genders here.
Himachal Pradesh is also well known as a lover's paradise because of the twinkling stars, cool air, dancing rivulets and beautiful flowers and greenery. Along with this there is the aromatic whiff of fruit trees in the spring and you can enjoy the rugged and barren landscape in Spiti and Lahaul. The people of Himachal Pradesh are simple, honest and hard-working. Fairs and festivals are celebrated on a regular basis and are enjoyed both by the locals as well as visitors from other parts of the country and even abroad. The different festivals like Dussehra at Kullu, Shivratri at MAndi, Holi at Sujanpur, Lavi in Rampur, Phulaich in Kinnaur and manu others are celebrated with a lot of energy and vigor.
