Karen Anand has been described as "something of a food guru, influencing the way people eat and perceive good food" in India. In addition to writing extensively on the subject of food and wine for over 25 years, Karen Anand has also set up a factory producing gourmet food products under her own brand, run a successful chain of food stores, had a niche catering business, anchored top rated TV shows, started a Gourmet Academy and has consulted for multinationals, International hotel and restaurant chains and F&B brands entering the Indian market. She works internationally and has contributed to restaurant projects in the UK, in particular the hugely successful Bombay cafe in London, 'Dishoom'.
For the last 10 years, Italy has been Karen's second home. She has been part of the International judging panel at Vin Italy, for 2 years running (2006 - 2008). She has also started a new venture last year (2017) - Culinary Tours to Italy.
In 2006, she was awarded the prestigious Food & Spirit Award (Trophee de l'Esprit Alimentaire) for Culture from the French Government. She is the founder of the Farmers Markets by Karen Anand, a whole foods food and drink fair, which is now in 9 Indian cities. Relentless, she has returned to her first love, food and travel writing, a passion which takes her around the world, where she reports and reflects with depth, complexity and generosity… and with great style.
She has regular columns in the Sunday Telegraph Kolkata, The Hindu and HT online and is a contributor to Harper's Bazaar.
