Gangwon – do
Located in the mid-eastern part of the Korean peninsula and flanked by the sea and the mountains, Gangwon-do is full of natural attractions. With its fascinating ridges and gorges, numerous waterfalls, crystalline brooks gurgling through lush woods, silver beaches and ample snow, Gangwon-do beckons all. It’s a fantastic place for white water rafting, climbing, camping, swimming, skiing and more.

  • Seoraksan National Park: Mt. Seoraksan is a part of this national park which has been declared a UNESCO Biospehere Preservation district. The park is a stunning showcase of the most breathtaking valleys & gorges, pristine waterfalls and 12 fairy bathing springs.




  • Teddy Bear Farm: Located in Sokcho, the Teddy Bear Farm Gallery offers a glimpse into the unique lifestyle of Sokcho through teddy bears: teddy bears are displayed mountain-climbing, skiing, playing golf, riding a boat from Abai Village to downtown, working hard on a squid fishing boat, sun tanning, or even defending the country.



  • Phoenix Park Ski Resort: Phoenix Park is a vacation resort, surrounded by nature 700m above sea level. It is a perfect mountain resort, containing everything from hotels, condomiums, ski resorts, and a golf course.




  • High1 Resort: High1 is the biggest tour resort located at a high altitude. It is built in beautiful natural surroundings in Gangwon-do, and it has the only Korean casino where both Koreans and foreigners are permitted to enter. It has an 1100m high golf course, a space theme park, and a 'International play theme park' that the entire family can enjoy. Moreover, a world-class skiing ground has opened in December 2006.


  • Rail Bike: The rail-bike in Jeongseon, Gangwon-do is in the limelight of leisure sports that families and lovers can enjoy together, which is specially produced to drive for 15 - 20km per hour above the rail by pedaling.




  • Yongpyong Resort: Asia's longest gondola ride and long-and-wide ski slopes. Yongpyong Resort is situated at the foot of Mt. Balwang which rises 1,458 meters above sea level. Yongpyong Resort is the second resort in Asia to be certified by the International Ski Federation(FIS). Yongpyong Resort, offering 27 slopes including the Rainbow Slope where the World Cup Ski Competition and the Winter Asian Games were held, with an average snowfall of 2.5 m is truly a world class ski resort.


  • Nami Island: Nami Island, Which is known for the outdoor sets for the TV series <Winter Sonata>, is a small island located in the center of a lake in the metropolis area. Nami Island is home to trees, plants and wild flowers displaying unique colors each season and will undergo an examination of its plants and natural ecologies in the future, aiming to be registered in the Society of the World's Museums as a living " Museum of natural ecologies."
