On arrival in Amman, drive to Caesarea and see the restored Roman Theatre, the Aqueduct and Hippodrome. On the drive along the Mediterranean coast to Haifa, Israel's largest port city built on the slopes of Mt. Carmel, stop at the exotic Persian Hanging Gardens for a view of the Bahai Shrine. Enjoy a panoramic view of the Haifa Bay and Western Galilee. Continue to Muhraqa, the place of sacrifice of Prophet Elijah and the site where he defeated the False Prophets of Ba'al.
In Tiberias, drive to the Sea of Galilee area and visit Capernaum, believed to be Jesus' home and the centre of his ministry after he left his birth town, Nazareth. Proceed to Tabgha and visit the Church of Multiplication, a testament to the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes. Continue to the expressive Church of the Beatitudes - here Jesus gave the Sermon on the Mount. Make a brief halt at St. Peter's house, the Church of Primacy of Peter and the place where Jesus bestowed St. Peter with His authority. The flat rock known as Mensa Christ or Christ's table commemorates this event. Ride like Jesus in a replica of a Galilean Fishing Boat on the Sea of Galilee, where he calmed the storm and walked on water. Go on to Nazareth, home of Mary and Joseph and the boyhood town of Jesus. Visit the Basilica of the Annunciation, built over the grotto where Archangel Gabriel appeared to Virgin Mary to announce to her that she was to bear the son of God, Jesus. Stop at St. Joseph's workshop and the Tomb of the Just. Next, onto Cana - here Jesus performed His first miracle, turning water into wine at the wedding feast.
Visit Yardenit, the traditional baptismal site on the River Jordan. Leaving Tiberias, drive to Mount Tabor and ascend to visit the Church of Transfiguration. Continue along Jordan Valley to Jericho, one of the world's oldest cities. Here Jesus healed the blind Bartimaeus and Zacchaeus was converted. See the Sycamore tree and view the Mount of Temptation. Proceed to Bethany and visit the tomb of Lazarus.
In Jerusalem, begin the day with a picturesque drive to the Mt. of Olives to behold the panoramic view of the Holy City. Visit the Church of Ascension which commemorates the ascent of Jesus to Heaven. Next, see the wall with inscription's of the Lord's Prayer in many languages at the Church of the Pater Noster. Walk to the chapel of Dominous Flevit, "The Lord Wept" commemorating the occasion where Jesus wept for the city of Jerusalem. From there, proceed on foot to the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus retreated to prayer after the Last Supper. Onward to Bethlehem, in the Judean Province, where David tended his flocks until he was anointed King of Israel, the Angel announced the birth of Jesus to the shepherds of Bethlehem during the reign of King Herod & Jesus was born. The day continues with visits to the Church of Nativity, the Shepherd's field and the Grotto of St. Jerome and Rachel's tomb.
Visit the pools of Beit Hasda, where Jesus healed the crippled man. Take the Via Dolorosa, "Path of Sorrow" or "Way of the Cross", the route taken by the cross-bearing Jesus followed from the site of his condemnation, the Praetorium, to the site of his Crucifixion and grave. Each event on his walk has a chapel commemorating it; together these chapels comprise the 14 Stations of the Cross. This journey will take us through Pilate's Judgments Hall, the Chapel of the Flagellation, Jesus was first flogged by Roman Soldiers here, the Ecce Homo Arch, built on the site of Pontius Pilate's mansion, where Pilate looked down upon Jesus and cried "Behold the man" and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, marking Golgotha, also called Calvary, the site of the Crucification. View the Temple Mount area and proceeding through the Jewish Quarter arrive at the Western Wall, also known as the Wailing Wall, the most sacred place to the Jewish religion. Proceed via the Monastery of the Cross to Mt. Zion. Visit the Cenacle, said to be the tomb of King David, also the Last Supper site. Next, to the Church of St. Peter of Gallicantu. It was here that Peter denied Jesus fulfilling the Last Supper prophecy. Thereafter, walk to the Dormition Abbey, the site where the Virgin Mary was said to have fallen into 'eternal sleep'.
Drive through the Judean Hills towards the Dead Sea area. Visit Qumran, where the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Make a brief stop at a public beach and seize the opportunity to float in the salty buoyant waters, rich in minerals. Continue and cross into Jordan and proceed to Mt. Nebo, where Moses saw the Promised Land. It is also presumed to be the site of the prophet's death & burial. Proceed to Madaba, the city of Mosaics and see the Christian Church. Your pilgrimage cannot get holier than this.
