The original museum was a 3 story old building that was the only remaining part of the Royal Palace. The new museum on the other hand was designed and built by the Chinese government and this is where eventually the artifacts from the old museum will be moved to. The museum was declared officially as the National Museum on July 26, 2010. Hukuru Miskiiy: The Hukuru Miskiiy is also known as the old Friday mosque and is the oldest mosque on the islands.
