The beguiling country offering myriad adventures – Indonesia
Indonesia consists of more than 17,000 islands out of which 8000 are inhabited and more than 300 languages are spoken across these islands. Indonesia is an ever intoxicating, ever intriguing land that offers some of the greatest adventures in the world. There are some unique experiences that you can have in Indonesia like sitting in the open door of a train as it whizzes across Java, lazing away on a ferry bound for Kalimantan, dangling on the back of a scooter in Flores, roaming around the corners of some mystifying ancient Timor village or even the simple pleasure of trekking through the wilderness. There is infinite diversity in Indonesia and you can enjoy the endless exploration of the 17,000 odd islands.
You will enjoy the raw beauty of nature even while simply driving across the cities. For instance, while driving across Flores and somewhere east of the steamy port of Ende, you will come across a brilliant view of a volcano. The conical structure of the mountain with recent lava flowing down the sides and some pretty wisps of steam rising from the top are a sight to behold. There is also the world class fun in Bali and some off the grid fun in the incredible Bandas.
Indonesia abounds in beaches and volcanoes with diving haunts in Sulawesi and Sumatra is contoured by a legion of almost 100 volcanoes some of which can erupt at any time. Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world with a population of 255 million and counting. The country runs along the equator for a width of 5000 km. From the western tip of Sumatra to the eastern edge of Papua, there is absolutely no homogenization in this country. There are so many cultures, peoples, animals, sights, plants, foods and artworks that you will feel that you are witnessing 100 countries into one.
